US Grown Myrtillocactus geometrizans cv “Fukurokuryuzinboku” (Booby Cactus)

Cuttings from my personal Booby Cacti! Myrtillocactus geometrizans cv. “Fukurokuryuzinboku” – all US grown, rooted, and ready to go! These are not the bare little stems you see from sellers on Etsy who are just flipping recently imported cuttings; these are rooted, actively growing cacti ready to go. I only offer cuttings from my US grown mother plants, which severely limits the stock I have available per year.

These root best during the roasting hot summer months, as the nominate species Myrtillocactus geometrizans absolutely loves blistering hot and sunny summers. My cuttings are rooted, established, and growing in the US, which means the roots expanding out are going to be alive and ready to go once you receive them. While these are rooted and ready to go, do not immediately put them out in full sunlight! They’ll need a few days in some shade prior to being moved to increasing amounts of sunlight.

During summer months, these grow fast and tall. They love, and I mean LOVE, hot weather and bright light when established. Unlike the non-monstrose form, this cultivar does benefit from some shade during the hottest part of the afternoon if your temperatures routinely climb above 90F.

In winter, keep them dry, watering only when you see distinct withering and sunken-in wrinkling. If you water, make sure there’s no frost expected for a few days after. They can tolerate nighttime drops to 20F for a couple hours at night, so long as daytime warms back up to the 50s or 60s.
