Description

Seed-grown from Mesa Garden seed, Field Number LH 1080 (originating form Bolivia, Cruce Mizque). An uncommon species, often overlooked in favor of the showier and less densely spined Sulcorebutia rauschii.

Tends to grow with a large central head, then slowly pup over time once the central head is about 2″ across. The most exciting component of these cacti are the profuse quantities of brilliant purple-pink flowers it produces once it’s reached an appropriate size.

Easy growing, adaptable to various exposures and conditions. Thrives best in a well-draining mix with nearly full sun, protected from direct sun during the hottest part of the day if your daytime highs reach over 95F. Stays small and looks fantastic in a container, making it a great candidate for beautiful show pots and long-term potting in display containers.

Very tolerant of cold weather if kept dry, accepting drops to 20F if protected from water.
