Aloe marlothii is a tree aloe also known as the "Mountain Aloe" or "Flat Flowered Aloe". They get very large, sometimes over 10 feet tall, but it does take years to reach that size.

These seedlings were grown from seed purchased from SilverHill Nursery, a South African nursery specializing in producing their own seed from their substantial property.

Plant in well-draining soil, and water when dry. Repot at least once a year to encourage rapid growth to tree-size, repot more often if the roots are protruding out of the bottom of the pot. Fertilize with a 1:1:1 fertilizer at half strength through the hot summer months, watering as soon as the soil is dry.

Produces large sprays of blooms, with the most common color being an orange-red, but some specimens producing redder or more yellow flowers. Blooming is most common in winter; here in San Diego, they are most often seen from December through to April, depending on the plant, its planting location, and the local weather.
